Minister of Agriculture of Italy Francesco Lollobrigida, on September 6, expressed his views on the relationship between Italy and Uzbekistan as he arrived in the historic city of Samarkand to attend the International Conference on Food Security.
"Italy is pleased to help Uzbekistan as it is a rapidly developing country. Uzbekistan has a convenient geographical location in Central Asia and is considered a vital partner by Italy. The two countries agreed to further strengthen their relations a few months ago, focusing on agriculture, livestock, and science. Uzbekistan has a rich history, deep culture, and unique traditions, which can serve as a basis for strengthening relations between the two countries",
Italy's Minister of Agriculture told Daryo correspondent on Wednesday.
The International Conference on Food Security in Samarkand is set to be held in September 7-8 with 3,300 foreign experts from 32 countries to share their expertise on global challenges in food security. Development of programs for the cultivation and processing of agricultural crops, formation of coordinated schemes of direct mutual supply, and all areas of food safety will be covered at the conference.
Earlier, Daryo reported that the bilateral trade between Italy and Kazakhstan in 2022 grew by almost 55%, reaching nearly $15bn.
