The bilateral trade between Italy and Kazakhstan in 2022 grew by almost 55%, reaching nearly $15bn, as reported at the meeting between the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, and the Foreign Minister of Italy, Antonio Tajani.
Italy is Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in Europe and one of the top three worldwide.
Italy is a stable member of the top five investors from the EU in the Kazakh economy. Over the past 17 years, the total investment inflow has reached $7.3bn. Last year, their volume increased almost 2.5 times, amounting to about $300mn. Despite this growth, there is still significant potential for increased trade.
Kazakhstan's Prime Minister expressed the government's readiness to increase exports of Kazakh products to Italy on 110 commodities worth more than $900mn.
Antonio Tajani signaled Italy's readiness to strengthen relations with Kazakhstan in various ways. The priorities are trade, energy, and industry.
Tajani expressed interest in opening joint ventures and launching new Kazakh companies in Italy. He also suggested creating a business council to promote even stronger cooperation between the two countries' companies.
