Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have recently agreed to work together on cybersecurity through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement seeks to enhance their collaboration and strengthen their preparedness in responding to major cybersecurity incidents by utilizing technical, financial, and human resources.
The two countries will exchange information on cybersecurity threats, malicious software, and indicators of cybersecurity threats and organize joint activities to share ideas, knowledge, and experiences.
The MoU was signed between Azerbaijan's State Service for Special Communication and Information Security and the State Institution for Cybersecurity of Uzbekistan.
Azerbaijan has also adopted a strategy for information security and cybersecurity from 2023 to 2027 that includes setting minimum cybersecurity requirements for national digital airspace, improving personal data protection, and establishing security requirements for crewless aerial vehicles.
The plans involve creating a consultation platform on information security and cybersecurity, developing an organizational framework for managing critical information infrastructure in emergencies, and establishing an electronic information system called "Cybercrime" to detect and measure incidents and critical incidents.
