Authorities in the Philippines have reported that a fire incident in a residential locality resulted in the tragic loss of 15 lives, NHK reports.
The fire erupted within a dwelling that had been repurposed into a T-shirt manufacturing facility situated in Quezon City on the morning of August 31. Footage captured by residents displays the house engulfed in flames. An employee, a woman, shared that her coworker informed her that upon waking up, the fire had already spread extensively, emitting suffocating smoke. In response, he attempted to exit the premises.
Local law enforcement is actively investigating the origin of the fire. Local officials have disclosed that the structure was officially listed as a residence, rather than a factory.
Certain local media reports suggest that firefighting efforts encountered delays due to incorrect address information provided. Moreover, the progress of fire trucks was hindered by severe flooding stemming from heavy monsoon-season rainfall.
