Uzbekistan plans to save almost 14mn kWh of electricity by year-end, according to the media citing the energy inspection service.
The Ministry of Energy is currently conducting organizational work to improve the quality of electricity supplied to consumers in Uzbekistan.
The new installations will enable consumers to save significantly on energy costs and operate electrical appliances in the same mode.
The capacitor generators have a capacity of 653.6 kW, which allows for energy savings of 13,749 kWh by the year-end.
Earlier, Daryo reported that the Government of Uzbekistan aims to attract foreign investment in hydropower projects to meet rising demands for cost-effective and eco-friendly electricity. Uzbekhydroenergo is commencing procurement for the first lot of five new hydropower plants, totaling an estimated 46.6 MW capacity, under a PPP agreement. The country seeks to establish a positive track record for PPP-based projects, allocate risks fairly, diversify the energy generation mix, ensure transparent tender processes, and generate competitive tariffs.
