Gazli Gas Storage, a joint venture between Uzbekistan and Russia, plans to expand Uzbekistan's largest underground gas storage facility in the Bukhara region, media reports.
The $850mn project will be implemented in two stages.
During the first stage, from 2020 to 2025, the storage will be expanded from 3bn to 6bn cubic meters, and during the second stage, the capacity will increase to 10bn cubic meters of gas.
By October of this year, they plan to carry out additional exploration for gas and oil presence and then further develop the field and expand underground gas storage.
The joint venture was established in October 2018 to prepare the project of reconstruction and operation of underground gas storage Gazli in the Bukhara region.
The founders of the joint stock are Uztransgaz and Russian Forus.
