Chairman of Tajikistan's Upper House of the Parliament Rustam Emomali and Chinese NPC's Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji signed a cooperation agreement between their countries' legislative bodies, media reports.
The agreement is expected to strengthen inter-State relations, create legal conditions for developing trade and economic ties, and promote cooperation in other areas.
The parties discussed cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and other regional and international organizations, focusing on countering terrorism, transnational organized crime, cybercrime, and other aspects.
Following the meeting, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, Zavki Zakizoda, and Deputy Chairman of the International Cooperation Agency of China, Deng Bo Qin, signed a letter of exchange for the allocation of $2mn to construct the Chinese conference center within Tajikistan's government complex after their bilateral meeting.
A letter of exchange was reportedly signed also regarding the previous technical study of the Smart City project in Dushanbe, as well as the construction and renovation of roads, four new flyovers in Tajikistan's capital, repair and reconstruction of the Tajikistan-China border crossing at Kulma Pass, and rebuilding and construction of a road section from Warshnor village, Shugnan district, Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region to the Kulma-Karasu border checkpoint. Additionally, Zohir Saizoda, Tajikistan's ambassador to China, and Lin Ji, China's Deputy Minister of Trade, presented an act on transferring municipal transport equipment as aid from China to Dushanbe.
