One of Central Asia's largest marathons, the "Yangi Nafas" (New Breath) international mass running competition, is scheduled to take place across Uzbekistan on September 3.
The "Yangi Nafas" mass running competition will be held in 16 cities of Uzbekistan, in commemoration of the 32nd anniversary of the Republic of Uzbekistan's independence. This grand sports event invites individuals of various ages, both amateur and professional athletes, as well as advocates of a healthy lifestyle, to participate. The event holds particular significance in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and all regions of Uzbekistan as it aligns with the country's cherished holiday.
A press conference convened at the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan to discuss the preparations for this upcoming mass running event.
The official motto of the "Yangi Nafas" running competition is "We run together in the same country, at the same time, for the same distance, for the same purpose!" This motto symbolically unites citizens of all ages and backgrounds, encapsulating the celebratory spirit surrounding the Republic of Uzbekistan's state independence.
The marathon, a tradition tied to significant state occasions and international sporting events, aligns with the "Concept of the development of physical education and mass sports in 2019-2023" outlined by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These competitions exemplify the execution of a comprehensive state program dedicated to enhancing physical education and mass sports in the nation, while also fostering widespread engagement in an active way of life.
Over the course of three years of implementing the "Yangi Nafas" social initiative, in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan and the "Uzbekneftegaz" company, over 700,000 individuals have participated in these public running competitions, displaying ongoing enthusiasm for sports events.
Participants aged 9 and above are eligible to join the 3km sports competitions, while those aged 14 and older can engage in the 10km event. All cities will simultaneously start the race at 6:30 local time.
Distribution of participant kits is set to be managed by the Athletics Federation of the Republic of Uzbekistan on September 1 and 2, between 10:00 and 19:00, at the following location: I.Karimov Street, 98, "Pakhtakor" stadium.
