Deadly heatwaves in the Northern Hemisphere linked to global warming, study finds, Euronews has reported.
The scorching heatwaves that have been hitting North America, Europe, and Asia would not have been possible without global warming caused by the burning of fossil fuels, according to a study by the World Weather Attribution.
The Death Valley's breath spreads across the entire Northern Hemisphere. Known for recording the highest temperatures on Earth, often exceeding 50 degrees Celsius, being there without water and proper protection is highly risky.
Heat in Southern Europe 👇 & North America impossible without human-induced climate change - new @WWAttribution study. Totally unsurprising but important result. This is what climate change looks & feels. We need to adapt, we need to stop making it worse. https://t.co/3soEuDF7CP pic.twitter.com/3wmXmd8JqW

The research conducted by climate experts from the World Weather Attribution group attributes the deadly heatwaves to the anthropogenic climate crisis, which would have been impossible without global warming caused by fossil fuel combustion. The study reveals that the accumulation of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has led to an increase in heat by 2.5ºC in Europe, 2ºC in North America, and 1ºC in China.
In China, the rise in heat-trapping gases, mainly those resulting from fossil fuel burning, has amplified the risk of new heatwaves by 50 times.
Experts predict that heatwaves will become more intense, frequent, and prolonged worldwide. Already, they have caused discomfort in people's lives and contributed to natural disasters such as droughts and wildfires.
