During a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg emphasized the importance of security guarantees for Ukraine from NATO, Sputnik Armenia has reported.
However, he also stressed that the most pressing task at the moment is to ensure that Ukraine receives sufficient Western weaponry. While documents, advice, and meetings are crucial, Stoltenberg underscored the immediate need to provide Ukraine with the necessary arms.
Stoltenberg expressed his satisfaction with the recent announcements made by NATO allies regarding arms supplies to Ukraine. He mentioned that a coalition within the alliance has been established to facilitate the training of Ukrainian F-16 fighter pilots. This training program is expected to commence during the upcoming summer. The initiative reflects NATO's commitment to enhancing Ukraine's defense capabilities and strengthening its armed forces.
It is important to acknowledge that Russia holds a highly negative stance towards weapon deliveries to Ukraine. Moscow argues that such actions would only further escalate the armed conflict in the region.
