The corresponding decree of the president which is available in the Lex.uz database, shows that measures for integrating science, education, and practice in the agricultural sector have been approved.
Starting from September, one of the requirements for obtaining permits for new agro-clusters and cooperatives will be the development of collaboration with universities and scientific organisations. This includes the implementation of innovations and scientific achievements, as well as the development of human capital.
In turn, universities will, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, shape topics for dissertations and scientific projects based on the priority issues of the agricultural and food sectors. The projects will examine both local and international experience.
A special fund is being created to support the implementation, integration, and commercialization of scientific achievements in the agricultural sector. It will receive $5 mn in grants from international organisations.
Scientific and educational components will be included in investment and grant projects aimed at developing the agricultural sector with the participation of international financial organisations.
Additionally, unified agro-service centres will be established, encompassing the services of existing agro-centers, "Agrobank" farmer schools, industrial parks, chambers of commerce incubation centres and veterinary clinics.
The Samarkand Institute of Agro-Innovations and Research is being established based on the branch of the Tashkent State Agricultural University in Samarkand. Agricultural universities will also provide agro-technical, veterinary, and other services.
