On July 12, according to sources in government circles, Turkey has not turned away from Russia and will support "transparent negotiations" with official Moscow. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, previously commented on the cooperation between Russia and Turkey, emphasizing that while there are disagreements, there are also aspects of the relationship that align with the interests of both countries. Moscow intends to foster dialogue.
"The notion that Turkey has turned away from Russia and completely aligned itself with the West does not reflect reality. Turkey will continue to pursue a policy of balance as an international and regional power. In this context, Turkey will continue to develop relations with the West and Europe while supporting 'transparent negotiations' with President Vladimir Putin," the publication states.
On July 10, Erdogan stated that Sweden's accession to NATO would be possible after Turkey's admission to the EU. In response, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced on the same day that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had agreed to "expeditiously" send the necessary documents for Sweden's NATO membership to the Turkish parliament for ratification.
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, stated that Turkey is not desired in Europe, and Ankara should not look at this through rose-tinted glasses.
