Ukraine's Defense Minister, Alexei Reznikov, expresses confidence in Ukraine's membership in NATO and presents evidence as it was reported by TCH.ua.
Reznikov believes joining NATO would be beneficial for Ukraine as the alliance possesses combat experience against Russia.
"If Russia is the main threat to NATO, I have a simple question for fellow defence ministers: If in the world, there is only one country that knows how to resist the Russian army, how to defeat it in the battlefield, and how to achieve victory using modern, effective, and successful experiences with NATO's modern weapons, what other evidence do you need to accept Ukraine into NATO?" said Reznikov.
He further added, "Ukraine is a de-facto NATO state and de-jure should become a NATO state."
Ukraine's Membership in NATO
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasised that Ukraine's entry into NATO should not cause fear for Russia and that it is an important indicator of putting Putin in his place. He stated that Kyiv needs security guarantees beyond European Atlantic integration.
On July 11-12, 2023, the NATO Summit 2023 will take place in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, gathering the heads of member states of the Alliance. Zelensky's team believes that during this meeting, they can adopt a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine, concluded by Kyiv and the countries willing to provide such guarantees in the future.
Earlier Daryo, reported that the U.S. President Joe Biden believes it is premature to discuss Ukraine's membership in NATO.
