Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting Minister of the Interior of Afghanistan, has provided an explanation as to why the "Taliban" has not been officially recognized as Afghanistan's government, Sputnik reports.
Haqqani stated that the Taliban is subject to sanctions due to its refusal to comply with the instructions of the international community. He emphasized that the Afghan people have achieved their freedom and owe no debts to anyone.
The international community has presented the Taliban with several key demands, which are primarily based on either the Doha agreement or the promises made by the Taliban during their rise to power, aiming to establish a conducive environment.
Earlier, the Taliban expressed its protest at not being allowed to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. Afghanistan currently holds observer status in the organization.
The Taliban asserted that Afghanistan views its participation in such meetings, with observer status, as an inherent right that cannot be denied.
