Former US President Donald Trump has sued journalist and writer Jean Carroll for accusing him of rape, defamation, and damaging his reputation, Bloomberg reports.
The former president filed the lawsuit against Carroll on June 27, alleging damage to his reputation and accusing him of rape, according to the agency's statement.
In May of this year, Carroll filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan court, demanding a "significant" increase in the compensation she receives from former US President Donald Trump, who is accused of sexual misconduct.
Trump filed a lawsuit against journalist and writer Jean Carroll, alleging assault, defamation, and reputational harm. The court ruled that while Trump did not commit rape, he must pay Carroll $5 million in damages, with $2 million designated for compensatory purposes and an additional $3 million for defamation. Trump criticized the decision, labeling it a "shame" and accusing Carroll of fabricating the allegations. Carroll initially accused Trump of attempted rape in the 1990s, to which Trump vehemently denied any encounter with her. The lawsuit remains ongoing, with new allegations against Trump being prepared by Carroll's legal team.
