According to data, the seismic stations detected the earthquake on May 18 at 8:08 pm Almaty time. The earthquake's epicenter was 705 kilometers southwest of Almaty, in Tajikistan. At this time, there is no available information regarding its perceptibility.
Earlier, Daryo reported that over thirty seismic monitoring systems will be put into operation in Almaty this year. 'The seismologic situation in Turkey has prompted Kazakhstan to draw particular attention to seismic security in Kazakhstan,' the press service of the Minister for Emergency Situations Yuri Ilyin has said in a statement.
