The President of China, Xi Jinping, during the "China-Central Asia" summit, announced that the country intends to allocate CNY 26bn, or nearly $3.72bn, to Central Asian countries as part of financial assistance, media reports.
Besides financial support, China plans to cooperate in developing plans to improve law and order, security, and defense capacity building. Xi Jinping emphasized China's commitment to maintaining peace in the region and using the coordination mechanism between Afghanistan's neighbors to promote peace and reconstruction in the country.
The "China-Central Asia" summit is taking place in Xi'an from May 18-19, and the Presidents of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan are in attendance.
