Bahodir Jalolov, Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics winner, grabbed the gold in the IBA men’s world boxing championships for the second time after his triumph in 2019 (Russia).
The Uzbek heavyweight boxer secured an upper ‘glove’ by defeating Cuban Alejandro Arzola Lopez in the first round winning the gold medal.
Bahodir beat Danis Latipov (Bahrain), Teremoana Teremoana (Australia) and Kamshibek Konkabayev (Kazakhstan) in the previous bouts. In the semi-final, Jalolov's opponent Ayub Gadfa Drissi from Spain did not enter the ring, so the boxer from Uzbekistan automatically went to the final.
In the final fights, Asadhoja Moydinkhojayev won the gold medal by defeating Dulat Bekbauov from Kazakhstan, and Hasanboy Dusmatov from France Bilal Bennama.
