Kazakhstan has signed an agreement on cooperation between the CIS countries on legal and intellectual property protection, with coordination by the Interstate Council, media reports.
Each party will provide financial support from their respective national budgets. In addition, the agreement aims to counteract copyright violations in communication and information networks and strengthen economic and cultural ties between CIS member states.
Senate Deputy Andrey Lukin states, 'Adopting the Law would bring about various positive outcomes. These would include establishing legal measures to prevent copyright infringement and related rights in the information and telecommunication networks. Additionally, the Law would facilitate the growth of trade, economic, and cultural relations among the Commonwealth of Independent States member states'.
Kazakhstan's Majilis has already approved the bill, and the Ministry of Justice sees it as crucial to creating an international legal framework for digital copyright protection.
