Gayane Umerova, executive director of the Fund for the Development of Culture and Art, said that "Archaeological Treasures of Uzbekistan. From Alexander the Great to the Kushan Empire" will be held from May 4 to January 14, 2024. She expressed her opinion about the new exhibition, a correspondent of "Daryo" reports.
Gayane Umerova said that during the preparation for the exhibition in the Louvre Museum, it was agreed to open an exhibition in the Berlin Museum.
"In 2019, we signed a memorandum during the visit of the Uzbek president to Germany. For 3 years, we have been negotiating with the organizers of the exhibition regarding the selection of exhibits. At that time, it was decided that the theme of the exhibition would be the Kushan Empire. The organizers focused on the relations of Ancient Greece with Central Asia and the Kushan Empire.
This is a very correct concept for presenting Uzbekistan and its culture on the international stage. Both exhibitions are opening one after the other. In this exhibition, 2 times more exhibits are displayed than in the Louvre. An area of 1,200 square meters has been allocated for the exposition of the exhibition. The place where we are now is considered to be the center of Berlin. The James Simon Gallery and Bergamo are all in one place, and there are 3 museums here. We hope that the exhibits we present will increase interest in the history and culture of Uzbekistan. A map of that period can be seen here.
It is the second time that we are opening such a large exhibition on the international stage with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and we are proud of it. This shows the intention to further strengthen cultural-diplomatic relations in the world community," she said.
