More than 6,000 volunteers will be working together to restore and preserve historical, cultural, and memorial monuments of Kazakhstan as part of the national project, "Birgemiz: Asyl Mura," which is being implemented by the public fund, "Danalyk," at the initiative of the Ministry of Information and Public Development, media reports.
The initiative was commenced last year and will continue until 2024. This year, 30 grants will be awarded among volunteer groups, each worth 300 thousand tenges. Applications are currently being accepted, with 100 already submitted.
Project participants comprise representatives of state inspectorates to protect historical monuments and volunteers. They recently gathered to discuss ways of solving problems and promoting historical heritage. In addition, 170 historical monuments will receive QR codes for easy access.
The project manager, Botabek Tokishkadirov, emphasized the importance of building a solid relationship between volunteers and inspectors.
'Volunteers are eager to help, but since historical monuments are under the jurisdiction of the state, they must obtain permission from local administrations. Realizing this, we decided to gather around the same table. The project has already involved about 2,000 volunteers, and clean-up events will be held in all regions over the next month', he said.
