In the first quarter of 2023, Uzbek banks earned a profit of 30.5 trillion soums. This was reported by the Central Bank.
Non-interest income amounted to UZS 11.7 trillion, and interest income amounted to UZS 18.8 trillion.
In the first quarter, interest and non-interest expenses of Uzbek banks amounted to UZS 12.2 trillion and UZS 2.3 trillion, respectively. In addition, operational costs of UZS 3.9 trillion were incurred.
In three months, banks in Uzbekistan paid more than $69.4mn in profit tax. This is about $11.3mn more than the corresponding period of last year.
Banks saw a net profit of more than UZS 3 trillion in January. This is UZS 1.1 trillion more than in the same period of 2022.
