The Central Bank of Uzbekistan called on people to beware of fraudsters regarding the cancellation of card transactions.
Reportedly some bank card holders have received messages urging them to access the Telegram bot to cancel card transactions. Apparently, this activity is done to prevent the illegal withdrawal of funds from the card by a user named "Central Bank of Uzbekistan".
Regarding this suspicious information, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan stated that this message and the bot have nothing to do with the country’s money regulator.
“People are requested to ignore these messages and not access any links. It is recommended to rely only on official sources," the report said.
In May 2022, the Central Bank warned about a widespread online fraud scheme. Cheat scheme:
- fraudsters inform about winning a prize and send a link to receive it through Telegram messenger;
- when entering the site through the link, you will be asked to enter the bank card number and validity period;
- as soon as all the information is entered, they will have the right to fully manage the bank card.
