Azimbek Pazylbekuly, Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh Construction and Housing-Communal Services Affairs Committee, has revealed measures to alleviate the scarcity of drinkable water in Kazakhstan's Mangystau area, Azernews reports.
Despite the presence of water pipes, the region may face a scarcity of 100,000-110,000m3 of tap water daily by 2025. To address this problem, nine seawater desalination facilities will be erected at a cost of more than $541.4mn.
The Kazakh government has provided funding for the operations, which includes the development of the Caspian Desalination Plant in Aktau, while private investments will help to build a desalination plant near the Karazhanbas oil field.
