The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, stood up for the people of Kazakhstan who do not know the Kazakh language. Speaking at the regular session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, he noted that citizens who do not know the state language to the required extent should not be infringed, Daryo correspondent from Astana reports.
Tokayev said that discussions on the language issue are not at all ethnic, but civic and political in nature. Any tactlessness in this matter can lead to serious and even tragic consequences. However, he alleged that the study of the state language and the desire to master it should become a daily norm in society.
“The Kazakh language will only become popular when its demand increases. In the end, the knowledge of different languages is a sign of the culture of each person. And mastering the state language, especially the native Kazakh language, is an indicator of how culturally developed this or that citizen is, how civil responsibility is developed in him, and, in the end, how patriotic he is. In general, it is necessary to maintain a positive and positive atmosphere around the state language,” Tokayev said.
The Kazakh language should become a means of introducing the best achievements of scientific progress and education, the President of Kazakhstan added.
