A video showing 44 Uzbek convicts addressing Shavkat Mirziyoyev from Rosafa prison in Iraq was released. The Prosecutor General's Office commented on this video message.
According to the received information, female prisoners from Uzbekistan, who are kept in the "Rosafa" prison, are considered members of the ISIS terrorist organization and have been operating in the ranks of this terrorist organization in the territory of Syria and Iraq. They were captured by the Iraqi government in 2017, and 4 were sentenced to life imprisonment and the rest to 15 to 20 years.
Due to the unsatisfactory conditions in this prison, in 2019, according to the agreement with the Iraqi government, 64 children of women were brought to Uzbekistan and placed in the care of relatives and orphanages. After the term of these convicted women expires, measures will be taken to return them to Uzbekistan based on the norms of international law.
