The number of Uzbek citizens coming to work in Russia has quadrupled in seven years, TASS reports.
Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov said that in seven years the number of citizens from Uzbekistan coming to work in Russia has increased four times.
At the international investment forum in Tashkent, he stressed that the number of Russian companies operating in Uzbekistan has also increased.
“We really appreciate that three thousand companies with Russian capital are operating in Uzbekistan, and these companies are doing great,” Reshetnikov said.
He also added that only 700 companies were opened last year.
Uzbeks previously took the lead in labor migration in Russia.
According to information for 2021, the number of labor migrants from Uzbekistan in Russia amounted to around 1,036,305 people. In 2022, 1.45mn people arrived. Thus, the number of workers from Uzbekistan to Russia increased by 40%.
