Turkish President's spokesman Ibrahim Kalin outlined conditions to end the war in Ukraine, Anadolu reports.
The politician said that long-term peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine will be realized only if a new comprehensive agreement is reached between Moscow and the West.
He expressed this opinion at the conference dedicated to the foreign policy of Turkey. Kalin emphasized that the Russian-Ukrainian war should not be perceived only through the prism of confrontation between the two countries.
According to him, the events taking place in Ukraine indicate that Russia and the West are looking for a new balance of power.
"Let's use all our efforts to stop the war in Ukraine. The continuation and expansion of this war are fraught with global catastrophe. It is important to stop the war and prioritize diplomacy. It is necessary to try to bring the parties to the negotiating table. We should bet not on war, but on peace!" Kalin addressed the international community and Western countries.
The politician stated that Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally are ready to play a role in this issue. He reminded that the Turkish leadership made many attempts to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine and assured that Ankara's active efforts in this direction will continue.
The press secretary noted that the world should not see the death of tens of thousands more people in Ukraine.
"Rather than continue the war, let's consider the option of three or five years of peace talks. The main thing is to stop the bleeding. We will discuss the possibilities of developing dialogue, taking into account the current situation," Kalin concluded.
