Kazakhstan's Ministry of Defense said on April 24 that the military procession in celebration of "Defender of the Fatherland Day" (May 7) and "Victory Day" (May 9) will not be held once again this year, "Daryo" correspondent reports.
The reason behind this choice is to conserve budget expenditures while maintaining the combat preparedness and mobility of Kazakhstan's Armed Forces.
Rather, military-patriotic activities will be held to commemorate the impending holidays, and military personnel who have shown exceptional service will receive awards. The memories of Kazakh troops who perished in WWII will also be acknowledged and their valor will be publicized.
The military procession was called off last year for the identical reason, and no public holidays were conducted in 2020 or 2021 owing to the risk of the coronavirus spreading. Kazakhstan's last military parades were held on May 7, 2018, and May 9, 2019.
