By late March, the price of pasta products climbed once by 35.1% year on year, noodles - by 36.2%, vermicelli by 35%, and horns by 33.2% in Kazakhstan, media reports.
According to the consumption ranking by the Union of the Organizations of Manufacturers of Pasta Products in the E.U. (UN.A.F.P.A.), Italy is expected to rank first (23.5 kg per capita in 2021), followed by Tunisia (17 kg per capita). Kazakhstan has 18 kilograms of pasta products per capita.
The production of pasta products in Kazakhstan for the first quarter of 2023 amounted to 39,300 tons, as in the previous year (- 0.8%). The primary manufacture was concentrated in Kostanay and North Kazakhstan Region, as well as in Shymkent, West Kazakhstan region, and Astana. These five regions accounted for 77% of the total output in the sector.
