The Commission for the Development of Viticulture of the CIS Member States under the Intergovernmental Council on Agro-Industrial Complex of the Commonwealth convened a first meeting in Moscow, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
M.E. Myskin, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee, expressed the hope that the activities of the Commission would help bring the viticulture sector to a qualitatively new level of development and contribute to the deepening of cooperation between the CIS member states.
The participants agreed on the need to maintain regular interaction on the platform of the Commission in order to study and apply the best practices of the CIS member states in this area.
The Commission created from relevant ministries and scientific institutions of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Federation, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan tries to offer favourable economic conditions for the sustainable development of competitive viticulture and winemaking in the CIS member states.
Director of the All-Russian National Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking "Magarach" of the Russian Academy of Sciences Likhovskoy V.V. was elected the head of the Commission.
