The Plant Quarantine Inspectorate of Kazakhstan detected 43 tons of infected tomatoes in the Turkestan region imported from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran, media reports.
At the border post in the Saryagash region, the phytosanitary service found the brown fruit wrinkle virus and the bronze virus in vegetables. The goods owners were fined and banned the import of dangerous products into the country.
Ibragim Begasilov, head of the regional territorial inspection, said the virus had also been revealed in Iran, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. The Plant Quarantine Inspectorate of Kazakhstan found 20 cases of law violations of crop products quarantine imposing a fine of 2mn tenge.
