An online meeting was held between the human rights representative (ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Feruza Eshmatova and the deputy human rights defender of France, the chief delegate for mediation Daniyel Agasinski, "Dunyo" reports.
At the beginning of the meeting, the French side was given detailed information about the content of the reforms aimed at strengthening the rights and freedoms of citizens, creating favorable conditions for business activities, and the activities of the human rights representative of the Oliy Majlis - the ombudsman.
At the same time, it was noted that it is important to study the experience of competent bodies protecting human rights and freedoms of France, to strengthen cooperation with them, and to study the experience of the French Institute of Human Rights Defenders. In particular, in June 2008, a proposal to renew the agreement was put forward between the ombudsmen of Uzbekistan and France due to the expiration of the agreement on cooperation.
In turn, the French representative expressed his readiness to further develop cooperation. At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to hold another meeting between the ombudsmen of the two countries in the coming days.
