While congratulating the Kyrgyz people on Navruz, Sadir Japarov touched upon the country's gold reserves.
"The joint coordination of the authorities made it possible to accumulate unprecedented gold reserves which haven’t been observed in the entire history of independent Kyrgyzstan. We the reserves as a strategic reserve for unexpected situations," the president said.
A few days ago, the commission consisting of MPs reported on the investigation conducted at the "Kumtor" gold mine. According to the chairman of the commission, Arslanbek Maliyev, there were 43 tons, 444 kilograms, and 13 grams of gold in the warehouse of the National Bank. Another 1,362 kilograms of gold was stored at the counterparty of the Kyrgyz National Bank - the Swiss bank and no law violation was detected.
