The Agency of Information and Mass Communication held a press conference on its activities in 2022 with officials of the Cultural Heritage Agency(CHA).
According to the report, approximately UZS 144 billion was allocated for a total of 72 projects for the development of the infrastructure of tourism objects and the preservation of cultural heritage objects.
A number of activities are being carried out in Uzbekistan in order to prevent the export and import of cultural assets, as well as their illegal circulation. In particular, in 2022, a total of 1,625 certificates of export rights were issued for 534,695 pieces of cultural property.
The illegal import and export of 6,420 pieces of cultural property were stopped, and 327 expert procedures were issued on them. The items are to be given to museums.
Some 8,210 immovable objects of material cultural heritage have been placed under state protection, of which 4,748 are archeological, 2,252 are architectural objects, 678 are monumental works of art, and 532 are noteworthy.
The key findings are the following:
- Some 829 road signs (in English, Russian and other languages) were installed and 219 free Wi-Fi zones were established for the convenience of visitors;
- ICESCO (International Islamic Organization) included 7 cultural heritage objects located in the city of Bukhara in the list of World Islamic masterpieces;
- Around 3,322 events were organized in museums as of last year with a total of 3,904,267 domestic and foreign tourists visitors;
- CHA collected information on over 9,000 household items related to the history and culture of Uzbekistan such as jewelry, clothing, manuscripts, etc;
- work was done to identify, study and bring copies of over 300 manuscripts related to the country's history and culture stored in foreign countries.
