43-year-old Uzbek actress Rano Shodieva earned the ‘Best Female Image’ nomination of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival in Mumbai, India, Dunyo reports.
The ‘Ayol Qismati’ ('The Fate of a Woman') feature film directed by Dilmurod Masaidov depicts actual events happening in the life of Sojida, one of nearly one hundred other women who returned from Syria as part of the Mehr humanitarian operation conducted by presidential order in 2019-2020.
‘I was delighted to be selected among so many participants. This is an achievement not only for me but also for our whole group. At this festival, we received one of eight awards. This is the victory of all Uzbek cinema', Rano Shodieva said.
Organized to mark India’s Presidency at SCO, the film festival aims to strengthen cinematic partnerships and boost cross-cultural ties.
