Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan intend to build a joint venture on Kyrgyz territory to produce cars, according to the draft intergovernmental agreement submitted to the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday, media reports.
'The Committee of the Jokorku Kenesh (Supreme Council) on the Fuel and Energy Complex, Subsoil Use and Industrial Policy has already considered a draft agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of Uzbekistan "Cooperation on the organization of production of automobile and commercial equipment,' the Kyrgyz Parliament said to TASS agency.
As indicated in the draft agreement, the plant is envisaged to be erected in the Chui region; at the initial stage, it will produce over 3,000 cars per year. Further, the production of vehicles, minibusses, and light trucks can surge to 30,000 units annually.
