Chairman of the Board of Eurasian Economic Relations Association (EkoAvrasya) Hikmet Eren commented on President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit to Singapore, Dunyo reports.
‘I am following with great interest the development of Uzbek-Singapore ties, which have gained tangible progress in trade, economic and humanitarian dimensions.
Thanks to the progressive economic policy of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan’s trade with Singapore has doubled in recent years. The favorable conditions created in the republic for foreign investors have helped to expand the number of enterprises with Singapore capital fourfold. Moreover, direct investment from Singapore to Uzbekistan has surpassed $700mn.
The identification by the President of Uzbekistan of five key areas of cooperation with Singapore in the near term contributes to the effective development of bilateral relations with the economic center of the Asia-Pacific region.
Singapore has advanced experience in human capital development and the training of highly qualified personnel for public administration. In this regard, agreeing with the Singaporean side to implement a joint program to train and develop civil servants in the areas of management, urban, and infrastructure development, digital transformation, innovation, education, and healthcare, will undoubtedly contribute to the administrative reforms initiated by the President of Uzbekistan.
I am sure that the agreement on the creation of the Uzbek-Singapore investment company with an authorized capital of $500mn will be a powerful support of investments and expansion of mutual trade, as well as the implementation of joint projects with the leading Singaporean companies’, Hikmet Eren concluded.
