Uzbekistan Airways has inked a memorandum with Winrock International, which has 25 years of international experience in implementing programs to combat human trafficking. In particular, the airline became a participant in 'Safe Migration in Central Asia', the project funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
In 2021, the Ministry of Internal Affairs received 840 communications relating to trafficking in persons. A total of 200 people, including 120, 33 men and 47 children suffered from human trafficking, the media reports.
Uzbekistan Airways' key objective is to ensure safe passenger transport. For this reason, the airline accepted Winrock International’s offer of cooperation. The program aims to prevent human trafficking, protect survivors and ensure safe migration.
As part of the cooperation, representatives of Winrock International in the first quarter of 2023 will hold a series of training for flight attendants and ground service employees of Uzbekistan Airways on their role in the field of safe migration, prevention, signs, Identification of victims of trafficking and measures to counter the problem.
