Bukhara regional administration has informed that the construction of the "Bukhara tourism center" might be erected elsewhere after the approval of Bukharians and UNESCO.
Currently, the "Bukhara Tourism Center" project is being carefully developed by taking into account the opinion of the general public and, the suitable land areas will be selected.
"After receiving the appropriate conclusion of the UNESCO World Center, a final decision will be made, and then the construction will begin," the press service of the city municipality said.
On January 13, Bukhara residents dissatisfied with the construction of the center sent an appeal to the president to stop the demolition of all buildings and structures around the axis of Ibrahim Mominov and Mustaqillik streets, including a large sports complex, in the heart of Bukhara city in 2023 as part of the construction of the tourism center.
It is reported that the center will be built on an area of 33 hectares, and 517 billion soums will be allocated from the budget of the Bukhara region in 2023. The Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Economy Botir Zakirov commented on the situation in a brief interview with "Daryo" reporter.
"Once the project proposal of the centre is made, it will be presented to the public for discussion. At the moment, studies are being conducted. This does not mean that the demolition will start tomorrow, the final point has not yet been done. This is now a project proposal – a consent of UNESCO," the minister noted.
