Registan Square in Uzbekistan's historic city of Samarkand saw over 1mn domestic and foreign tourists last year, the press service of the republic's Ministry of Tourism has reported.
Samarkand was chosen as the 2023 World Tourism Capital at the 24th General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Spain. Besides, this year the city is set to host the 25th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Registan Square is located in the very heart of the ancient city of Samarkand. Famous for its unique architectural ensemble, the complex has gained worldwide fame among passionate travelers for its beautiful grand madrassah, portals of which are facing the center of the space.
