Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Tuesday (December 20) informed of the country’s plans to accelerate the transition to a national health insurance scheme across the republic so that funds could reach every patient. Reportedly, a new system will be launched in Tashkent next year and then phased into other regions.
‘We are about to launch a three-year large-scale program on maternal and child health. All maternity complexes will be completely repaired and equipped’, President said, highlighting that bed capacity is to be increased by 35%.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that 15,000 oncological patients await to receive radiation therapy. With this in mind, the government intends to create radiological centers in Samarkand, Fergana, and Khorezm through a public-private partnership. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also stressed that express laboratories are to be updated and every family outpatient hospital would receive the necessary facilities.
In particular, Uzbekistan intends to create 140 more family units and polyclinics. 520 hard-to-reach mahallas are to receive compact medical centers.
