Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on December 12 held a meeting on the development of phthisiology and pulmonology as well as AIDS prevention. The event discussed the presidential decree adopted in February 2019 to improve the system of TB and pulmonological care. This is reflected in a 10% decline in the total number of infection cases and a 10% decline in casualties.
‘However amid the coronavirus pandemic, the number of patients with lung diseases in the dispensary in our country increased by 18%’, the statement says. The press service notes that while regions demand five types of high-tech surgical assistance for TB patients, such services are fully implemented in Tashkent and Nukus cities. Besides, Uzbekistan has recorded a surge in HIV infection cases, especially in the Tashkent, Andijan, and Samarkand regions. In this regard, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to establish a mobile brigade that would conduct screening of children in remote areas starting next year.
