On December 17, the fourth Airbus 321neo aircraft purchased by Uzbekistan Airways landed at Tashkent airport greeted with a water salute.
The 188-passenger A321neo aircraft (16 business and 172 economy class seats) can fly on long-haul and domestic flights. The maximum take-off weight of the aircraft is 97 tons and it can fly up to a distance of 6850 km.
The National Carrier plans to open new routes and restore previously popular routes to European and Asian countries. Filling the airline fleet with new A321neo aircraft will help to boost both inbound and outbound tourism.
"Uzbekistan Airways has started low-cost transportation from September 2021. Based on the economy class ticket demand, the company decided to purchase low-cost aircraft followed by another one at the end of 2022. In addition, during the high-level visits of our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France, an agreement was reached between Uzbekistan Airways and Airbus on the purchase of 12 new aircraft of the Airbus family (including A320neo and A321neo) in 2029-2030. It is planned that we will receive these planes in the next 10 years.
If we are currently flying to 40 cities of the world, this means that at least 10 more cities will be added next year," Kamola Ikromova, Uzbekistan Airways press service reports.
