Abdumavlon Abdullayev, the brilliant Uzbek scientist in the field of genetics and experimental botany, died on Thursday (December 8). He was 92.
Considered by many to be one of Uzbekistan's greatest living scientists, Namangan-born Abdumavlon Abdullayev was focused on the evolutionary characteristics and phylogeny of cotton, and highly contributed to the creation of the cotton gene pool and its replenishment with new samples.
The collection of the cotton gene pool by Abdumavlon Abdullayev is considered the national heritage of Uzbekistan and will serve many generations of researchers.
