Afghanistan's Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) electric company reported that the electricity chain supplied to the country from Uzbekistan was suspended due to a technical fault. This was reported by Hasht-e Subh Daily.
According to " DABS, the problem is expected to be solved within two days. Currently, residents of some provinces and districts of Kabul still have no electricity.
"In order to reduce the demand for electricity, Turkmenistan will be connected to the electricity supply chain to Kabul. The use of local electricity will continue," Kamtullah Maivand, press secretary of "Breshna" said.
13 provinces in Afghanistan, including Kabul, are supplied with electricity at the expense of imports from Uzbekistan. The neighbouring republic also imports electricity from Iran, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.
Uzbekistan has been providing electricity to Afghanistan since 2002. In the early years, electricity was supplied from the 10 kV power transmission networks based on the technological capabilities of the contracts concluded with the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) company.
After the construction and commissioning of two 220 kV power transmission lines in 2009, up to 430 MW of electricity is being supplied to Afghanistan.
