Samarkand hosts the Second Economic Forum which discusses the development strategy and Uzbekistan’s prospects in the future. The event attracted the republic’s leading investors and the representatives of major international, regional, and national financial institutions.
'The Economic Forum is a very vital event. In its framework, we want to discuss the results of our previous work and talk about the further development strategy and prospects of the republic for the future years, its goals, opportunities, and challenges, and most importantly to involve citizens in the implementation of reforms', Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Djamshid Kuchkarov said at the opening ceremony, adding that the ongoing reforms for the coming years are focused on halving the number of poor in the country and increasing the average income of the population to $4,000 per year.
The panel sessions are expected to discuss the role of the private sector in sustaining economic growth, monetary policy elements that can ensure macroeconomic stability, the importance of moving towards renewable energy in the context of global climate change, demographic risks, and opportunities for Uzbekistan.
