President Shavkat Mirziyoyev warned the chairman of "Uzbekistan Railways" Husnutdin Hosilov of dismissal if he does not make changes in his system in 3 months during an online conference dedicated to measures to further increase the potential of domestic and foreign tourism.
Although the passenger car traffic frequency on Tashkent-Samarkand and Tashkent-Andijan routes has increased by 1-1.5 hours, the quality of railway and air services is not up to standard.
Therefore, the ministry is now responsible to:
• launch daily flights from the Ferghana valley regions to the cities of Tashkent, Nukus, Bukhara, and Urgench;
• double air and railway connections from the regional centres to the cities of Tashkent, Nukus, Bukhara, Karshi, Termiz and Urganch;
• adopt a separate program for the reconstruction of at least 500 old-type wagons in the next two years;
• establish effective use of the infrastructure of congress halls, palaces, and hotels in the regions;
• start training courses in Bukhara, Zomin and Bostonliq tourism colleges based on new curricula i.e. hotel management, service by attracting Swiss experts.
The "Silk Road" tourism university needs to approve the plan of measures for training and improving the qualifications of middle-level employees in the hotel and service sector and instructed to train at least 1,000 young people per year.
