The delegation led by Luc Devigne, Deputy Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia at the European External Action Service (EEAS), held a series of meetings in Tashkent as a part of the preparation for the "EU-Central Asia" Conference on Sustainable Interconnection and the Ministerial Meeting slated to be on November 17-18 in Samarkand.
Luke Devigne said that the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia are aimed at only Belarus and don’t impact other states.
“The sanctions are not global in scope and are not directed at third world countries other than Belarus, which is supporting this war. We don't want it to hurt other countries. To clarify this, we held two meetings with the representatives of the embassies of the Central Asian countries and explained to them what was intended by the sanctions. We cannot control the actions of individuals active in the private sector. Also, the increase in energy and food prices is not affected by our sanctions. This is due to the fact that Russia has closed the ports of Ukraine, which are engaged in the transportation of food. We are not at all interested in this," said the official of the European Union.
