On June 27-29, the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abduhakimov took part in the 11th session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers of Tourism of the Baku Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The heads of tourism ministries and departments of OIC countries, and, in particular, OIC Secretary-General Brahim Hussein Taha discussed the strategic road map for the development of Islamic tourism, the implementation of tourism investment projects, the restoration of the industry after the pandemic, the promotion of Islamic culture and heritage, the holding of travel exhibitions.
Aziz Abduhakimov spoke about the tourism potential of the republic, in particular, the city of Khiva.
The participants had consented to organize the XII Islamic Conference of Ministers of Tourism in Khiva in 2024 and hold the "Tourism Week in the Islamic World" in Uzbekistan every year.
